What is the NBA 2K League?
The NBA 2K League is a professional competitive esports league co-founded by the NBA and Take-Two Interactive. The NBA 2K League is the first official esports league operated by a U.S. professional sports league and features the world’s best NBA 2K players.
How are NBA 2K League games played?
Players will compete as unique custom characters (not as avatars of NBA players) in 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 gameplay. No artificial intelligence will be used; playing ability is strictly determined by skill.
Where are games being played this year?
NBA 2K League games will be played both remotely and in-person. In-person NBA 2K League games will take place at the new NBA 2K League Studio in Indianapolis at The Pavilion at Pan Am.
How many NBA 2K League teams are participating in 2022?
Twenty-four NBA 2K League teams will compete this season. They are: 76ers GC, Blazer5 Gaming, Bucks Gaming, Cavs Legion GC, Celtics Crossover Gaming, DUX Infinitos, Gen.G Tigers of Shanghai, Grizz Gaming, Hawks Talon GC, Heat Check Gaming, Hornets Venom GT, Jazz Gaming, Kings Guard Gaming, Knicks Gaming, Lakers Gaming, Magic Gaming, Mavs Gaming, Nets GC, Pacers Gaming, Pistons GT, Raptors Uprising GC, T-Wolves Gaming, Warriors Gaming Squad, and Wizards District Gaming.

Does Lakers Gaming have a coach? Lakers Gaming hired Brian “Nacho” Traynor to be the team’s head coach during the offseason. Nacho played in the league’s inaugural season with the Magic and won the 2019 championship with T Wolves Gaming. He then went to Hornets Venom GT as the team’s marketing and team operations manager.

When will NBA 2K League games be played?
Remote games will tip off at 4 p.m. PT Tuesday – Friday. In-person games in Indianapolis will tip off at 4 p.m. PT Wednesday – Friday and at noon PT on Saturdays.
When is Lakers Gaming playing?

Are NBA 2K League games broadcast?
Games will be simulcast live on the NBA 2K League’s Twitch and YouTube channels and will be available on Dash Radio, eGG Network in Southeast Asia, Loco in India, and Sport1 in Europe.
So what’s new this year?
The NBA 2K League has made significant changes and will debut brand-new features during its upcoming fifth season in 2022, including a tournament-centric season structure, new 3v3 tournaments entitled by Coinbase, a significantly higher total prize pool and gameplay with amateur teams.
What is the 2022 competition structure?
THE BANNER CHAIN Powered by AT&T tournaments (THE TIPOFF, THE TURN and THE TICKET) and the NBA2KL 5v5 Playoffs and Finals will continue to feature only NBA 2K League teams, as in past seasons. All 24 teams will compete in THE TIPOFF and THE TURN. The five top performing teams from each conference heading into THE TICKET will automatically qualify for the NBA2KL 5v5 Playoffs. The 14 remaining teams will compete in THE TICKET, with the winning teams from the two conferences earning the 11th and 12th spots in the playoffs.
The Coinbase NBA2KL 3v3 BLACKTOP SERIES, which includes the SLAM OPEN, SWITCH OPEN and STEAL OPEN, will complement the traditional 5v5 BANNER CHAIN Powered by AT&T tournaments. The SLAM OPEN and SWITCH OPEN will include the 24 NBA 2K League teams, North American amateur teams that earned a spot through the tournaments’ qualifying events and Community Teams. The STEAL OPEN will include the 14 NBA 2K League teams that haven’t already qualified for the NBA2KL 3v3 Playoffs, and one amateur international team from each of the European and Asia-Pacific regions that earned a spot through separate international qualifying events. NBA 2K League teams, amateur teams and Community Teams will qualify for the NBA2KL 3v3 Playoffs based on their performance in the prior competitions throughout the season.
